Start your Stranded Deep survival adventure with essential first-day priorities, from reaching shore to securing fresh water and a safe place to save. Follow a practical survival checklist to manage your vital signs, avoid early hazards, and prepare for island exploration.

  1. Secure your life raft

Paddle your starting life raft to shore, drag it onto dry land, and keep the paddle attached so your emergency transport and supplies are not lost.

  2. Watch your vitals

Check your survival watch regularly to monitor health, hunger, thirst, and UV exposure before conditions become dangerous.

  3. Gather starter resources

Gather rocks, sticks, fibrous leaves, and other nearby resources to begin crafting essential survival tools.

  4. Build a Water Still early

Prioritize building a Water Still to establish a renewable freshwater supply instead of relying entirely on coconuts.

  5. Shelter, save, then explore

Build a Shelter, save your progress, and establish a reliable food and water supply before exploring distant islands.

Stranded Deep Map Guide

Learn how to navigate the procedurally generated islands and ocean in Stranded Deep using the Cartographer, compass, and recognizable landmarks. Understand world seeds, story-location markers, and island customization while accounting for differences between PC and console maps.

  • Cartographer

Access the Cartographer from the main menu to inspect the generated world layout and identify important locations.

  • World Seeds

Generated worlds use seed values, and different worlds can have different island arrangements and story-location positions.

  • Boss Markers

Story boss locations are represented by skull markers in the Cartographer, providing a starting point for locating the three ocean encounters.

  • Shipwrecks

Explore wrecks around the islands to discover loot and useful supplies, while watching for sharks and limited underwater breathing time.

  • Island Editor

The PC version supports creating custom islands and placing them into a world through the Cartographer and island-editing system.

Stranded Deep Raft Building Guide

Build a custom Stranded Deep raft for traveling between islands, collecting supplies, and exploring the Pacific Ocean. Follow the construction process for raft bases, floors, propulsion, steering, and practical upgrades before heading into deeper water.

  1. Get a hammer and open Vehicles

Craft or obtain a hammer and open the Vehicles section of the crafting menu to access raft construction components.

  2. Build the raft base

Build a Raft Base using an available material type such as wood bundles, buoy balls, tyres, or barrels.

  3. Add floors and expand

Attach a Raft Floor to the base and connect additional bases to expand the raft when more space is needed.

  4. Install sail, rudder, anchor

Install a Sail for propulsion and a Rudder for steering, then add an Anchor to keep the raft from drifting away.

  5. Upgrade storage and motor

Upgrade the raft with storage shelves, a canopy, or a Boat Motor as suitable materials and vehicle parts become available.

Stranded Deep How to Get Water

Discover reliable ways to obtain drinking water in Stranded Deep and prevent dehydration during long survival runs. Learn how Water Stills work, which materials replenish them, and why drinking too many coconuts can be dangerous.

  1. Ration your first coconuts

Use coconuts as a temporary source of hydration early in the game, but avoid consuming too many in quick succession because they can cause diarrhea and dehydration.

  2. Construct a Water Still

Gather the required materials and construct a Water Still through the crafting system to establish a renewable freshwater source.

  3. Keep the still supplied

Supply the Water Still with Palm Fronds or Fibrous Leaves so it can generate drinkable water over time.

  4. Store water for travel

Collect freshwater from the still and use appropriate water containers to carry additional supplies when exploring or traveling between islands.

Stranded Deep FAQ

Answers to common Stranded Deep survival, crafting, multiplayer, and endgame questions for PC and console players.

How do you get fresh water in Stranded Deep?

Build a Water Still and supply it with palm fronds or fibrous leaves to produce drinking water. Coconuts can help in an emergency, but consuming too many in a short time causes illness.

Does Stranded Deep support co-op and crossplay?

Stranded Deep supports two-player online co-op on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation, and Xbox. PC also supports local split-screen, and Steam and Epic players can play together. PC-to-console and PlayStation-to-Xbox crossplay are not supported; the Nintendo Switch listing is single-player.

How do you cure poisoning in Stranded Deep?

Craft and use an Antidote when you have unlocked the required crafting option. Avoid poisonous snakes, lionfish, and crown-of-thorns starfish, and keep your food and water needs under control while recovering.

How do you escape in Stranded Deep?

Complete the endgame objectives involving three boss creatures, obtain their key rewards, and prepare the escape aircraft at the carrier. Regular island survival and building alone do not finish the game.

Will Stranded Deep receive more updates?

No further updates are planned for the original Stranded Deep. In an October 16, 2026 statement, the developer confirmed that its last patch shipped in January 2024 and that multiplayer services would remain online.
